Supervision for Maryland LGSWs Working with Adults

I am licensed as a Clinical Supervisor in the State of Maryland. That means that I can provide accredited supervision for LGSW Social Workers working toward the Clinical Social Work License (LCSW-C).

I provide clinical supervision that helps therapists use the lenses of Self Psychology and Intersubjectivity.

Self Psychology focuses on understanding what your patient is thinking and feeling, and how the world looks through their eyes. People need to feel understood and accepted, and that is part of what facilitates growth. Intersubjectivity focuses on both you and your patient, and the fact that there are two separate people in the room, with sometimes conflicting needs and expectations. It helps you to think about meaning from two perspectives, the patient’s and yours. It helps your patient to learn to negotiate the world and to appreciate what others think and feel. Supervision will help you develop the capacity to use your own internal reactions to better understand what is happening between the two of you, both consciously and unconsciously, and to use that understanding to further the therapy.

I provide both individual and group supervision. I am happy to create groups for people coming together and wanting to receive supervision together as a group. Groups can be as small as 2 or as large as 6, with the fee varying accordingly.

I practice the principles of Self Psychology and Intersubjectivity in the supervision room. I do this because I believe that it provides the best environment for learning, and also because this models what I am teaching.

I believe that supervision should be an enlivening, supportive, growth experience.
